Air
spring isolator
Air springs are very soft spring
elements, which build up their spring resistance from the
compression of the air inside. They basically consist of two metal
or synthetic flanges
and a rubber element.

Components of the air spring type GRB:
-
conus plate
-
rolling lobe
-
piston
The
carrying force of the air spring is generated by the internal pressure
and the
effective area. Taking into account the thermodynamic constitutional
change of the air
the stiffness of an air spring can be calculated with the following
equation.
By controlling the effective spring volume you can influence the
natural frequency of the
spring. When the effective volume increases, the stiffness of the
spring decreases.
Thus the natural frequency decreases as well.
